Welcome to EatInEaling!
(This blog was originally posted in Jan 2018 after EatInEaling first launched)
This is a local campaign aiming to get the fabulous folks of London’s greenest borough out and about and enjoying the delicious food we have on offer.
Whether it’s to buy at markets and specialist stores, amazing ingredients to be found for your evening meal, or new restaurants alongside long-standing favourites. This is the one-stop-shop for all things food and drink in Ealing. Whilst we’re gorging our way through what the postcodes in and around Ealing have on offer, we’ll also be looking at way to ensure a healthy balance for mind, body and soul. That might be through the latest new openings for fitness classes (check out the brilliantly zen new TriYoga in Dickens Yard) or mindfulness tips to keep you centred on those grey, not-feeling-so-thankful, days. After all, we are what we eat and what we eat can make us feel great or sometimes a bit pudgy (post-Christmas)! It’s always good to find your own happy medium to ensure you can eat the foods you enjoy without feeling the guilt. It’s all about Fit, Fun and Fed! 💪
What’s worked and what hasn’t?
Here at EatInEaling, we have a wealth of local knowledge, having been born and raised here, so we’ve seen the comings and goings of many a restaurant and market. We’ve seen what’s worked and what hasn’t, and can make a fairly good prediction on which places will make a success in the area and which, sadly, may not. It’s a borough we love with a passion and feel truly lucky to still be here after all these years, being so close to all the deliciousness that Central London has to offer whilst having the peace that the distance of being in West London brings.
Ealing is currently going through a bit of a restaurant boom at the moment with new developments coming in Dickens Yard. Recent openings include the delectable Charlotte’s W5 which we just love, with Tonkotsu, The Skinny Kitchen, Balans Soho Society and Gail’s Bakery all on the way. Adding to that, the FilmWorks complex is FINALLY under construction it would seem with the promise of more new places to come. We’ve seen a huge revival of burger joints and chicken shops, originally starting with Gourmet Burger Kitchen, which has stood the test of time in Ealing, and then Five Guys and Chooks came along some years later. Chooks has since become the brilliant Bob’s cafe who perfectly combine French-American cuisine into some fantastically mouth-watering dishes, however you can still order Chooks on Deliveroo which is great. We’ve since had the openings of Chicken Shop, Burgista Bros, Honest Burger, Flaming Cow, Smokeys and Gourmet Brothers, phew! It’s a miracle we’re not all the size of a house with that lot of offer!
West London foodies unite!
The beautiful thing about being a foodie in West London is that we have always been a bit of a melting pot for so many nationalities, being a stone’s throw from Southall and all of its offerings from Asia, to being moments from Chiswick and the French Cuisine they specialise in. We in Ealing, of course, cannot forget the huge influence our Polish friends have had on the cuisine here and we have seen a massive rise in the number of Polish restaurants and Bakeries which adds perfectly to our well stocked melting pot! We’ve always loved to try new places and new foods here at EatInEaling, given the combination we have of cultures we have ourselves(Indian, Japanese, Malaysian, Irish, Catalan, English to name but a few!) As we journey around in search of the newest restaurant, the latest menu offering or the best versions of what the borough has on offer we’ll be blogging, Instagraming, tweeting and Facebooking our finds and experiences so you can be just as in the know.
Not forgetting of course, with all this amazing food on our doorstep we like to keep the waistline in some kind of a shape that isn’t “food baby” shaped. So we will also be letting you know about any fun new additions to the Ealing health and fitness scene, from dance classes, HIT workouts and Yoga through to football, volleyball or cricket clubs. We are firm believers in healthy body, healthy mind so we’ll pepper you with some good vibes as we go and generally be somewhere you like to check in to feel good, and quite possibly end up feeling hungry as well! 😋
Anyway, that’s enough for now and probably enough to give you an understanding of who we are and what we’d like to do here. Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming reviews of some local Ealing favourites as well as some video recipes we’ll be sharing on Facebook.
Bon appetit!
